Successful Muslim Entrepreneurship | Interview with Entrepreneur Riaz Surti
According to Business Insider, Muslim consumers spend upwards of $2 trillion dollars on services that support their faith. Whether it’s modest clothing, Islamic home décor, or halal food, there is a growing demand for products and services that cater to an Islamic lifestyle.
Known as the “halal economy,” conventional markets are tapping into the Muslim dollar. Stores like IKEA and Target now sell Ramadan décor, while Nike and lululemon offer sport hijabs. This is all good news for Muslims as it’s easier than ever to find products that support their faith.
In this episode we talk to one of the earliest pioneers of the halal economy, Riaz Surti. Riaz began his entrepreneurial career in the 90’s as a KFC franchise owner. He soon saw a need to provide halal chicken for his Muslim customers. As he says, “Putting Allah first is key to success.”
This faith-led approach eventually took him to launch his successful company, Hearthy Foods. A health and wellness company that sells products like halal collagen, bone broth, and grain-free flours. Hearthy Foods won Product of the Year in 2020 and has been featured on Shopify. Riaz gets candid about keeping faith first in every business decision he makes.
